This cake is admittedly succulent! I took the communication of making the cerise filling before making the cake function, and it had enough fourth dimension to cool downwardly. I followed the recipe as is, and was very happy with the results - as was everyone else who ate it! I would suggest that if possible, attempt making this cake 1 day earlier you plan on serving it - in that location's no comparison on how much better information technology tastes. At minimum, try to arrive the morning time of the day you want to serve it. Great!!

Tasty! I've never seen cans of sour cherries (only bachelor in the USA?) so I used a tin of ruby-red pie filling. This cake won't dry out out earlier it gets eaten. Thanks Linda.

I made this recipe for my swain'due south altogether at his asking. I modified it gently into cupcake format because I have a cupcake fetish. The cake was succulent, the ruby topping and whipped cream spectacular. My only adjustment to the recipe itself was adding an egg - a nod to the cupcakes - only I was very pleasantly surprised by this cake and found it pretty easy to make. For my purposes, I had a lot of leftover cherry topping and whipped cream - I concluded up making a parfait with the cupcake tops. This cake does rise pretty well - if you're thinking about going the way of cupcakes, I would make sure to fill the cups barely 1/2 with mix.

I was feeling lazy so I used Duncan Heinz Dark Chocolate Fudge cake, and it was very tasty. I used another reviewer's suggestion and brushed the layers with the sugar/cherry juice/kirsch mixture. The cake was already pretty moist, and then while that tasted good, information technology needs to be used sparingly on a cake mix cake. I as well stabilized the whipped foam by adding unflavored gelatin (directions below) since I was taking it to a party and I needed the whipped cream to hold upwardly and non get droopy. Anybody loved it. Next fourth dimension I will reduce the sugar a footling and utilise the nighttime sugariness cherries instead to come across if I like that better! (To stabilize two cups of whipping cream, dissolve 1 tsp. unflavored gelatin in 2 Tbsp. cold h2o and allow sit 5 minutes. Heat over simmering water just until gelatin dissolves; absurd slightly. In bowl whip cream and confectioner's sugar just to soft peaks. Add dissolved gelatin and whip just a little more until stiffer peaks form. This will assist the whipped cream agree its shape for a twenty-four hour period or two, and it doesn't make it rubbery.)

Good 1. I used the fourth layer too to give cake a taller wait. I as well used cocktail cherries but and no sugar syrup. Busy with shaved chocolate on whipped cream looked gourmet.
05/03/2006
This cake is wonderful!! I wondered about the batter equally it was quite thick but it came out groovy. It didn't accept as long to broil every bit the directions said. I did use canned cherry filling instead of the homemade and in place of the whipped cream I used the recipe for French buttercream Frosting. Everyone loved information technology.
04/17/2005
This was an first-class cake and went over so well that I had demands for several more. I made 2 for a large party and they were both gone in well-nigh xv minutes. The only matter I would add together would be a thin layer of chocolate syrup betwixt the layers.
01/02/2011
It was OK as a substitute recipe since I could not discover my Oma's recipe, it broiled up easy. Just its not a "Original" there is no vanilla extract in a Blackness Wood Cake its suppose to be Kirschwasser (ruby-red liquor) two completely different things and key item in what makes part of the gustation in this cake. Also using canned ruby pie filling as I seen in some of the reviews is not a skilful sub. You lot just want the cherries for this recipe. If you can't discover pitted blackness cherries get with frozen cherries thawed out of course. Also oil is never used for this its more often than not shortening or if all fails real butter not Margarine. Like I said its a pretty good sub but by no means an Original and I say that because I am German and its more often than not what I melt even afterwards xx years living in u.s. at present.
09/29/2002
First-class recipe! I made this for my Dad on his Bday and he loved it! Will be a squeamish special occasion cake...
02/19/2010
Delightfully Succulent Decadent Dessert!!
07/20/2011
I have fabricated this cake several times simply b/c it is soooo good! I brought it with for a family holiday dinner, not only did everyone honey it just the presentation is beautiful. Instead of pressing crumbs into the icing on the side, I used dark chocolate shavings. MUCH better this way hands downward.
02/09/2010
This recipe was boilerplate. Very expensive to make. The cherries were extremely expensive. The chocolate block was average..nothing to rave near. Lots of piece of work non plenty ahhhhs
01/22/2011
this is a neat block to make, particularly if y'all desire to impress someone!I bake a lot,but this was one of the prettiest cakes i made!anybody thought information technology was bought! And the proficient thing is that it's easy! All the family unit said information technology was even better than the shop bought ones.I couldn't find canned sour cherries,so I used canned scarlet filling(as is).It worked out perfectly, and I only needed 1 can of 19oz.thank you sooo much for that keen recipe!
06/13/2011
I want to make this recipe, but am a petty dislocated. If I can simply discover pie filling, tin I still brand the syrup, or only use information technology as is.
02/14/2001
This cake was absolutely succulent when all was said and washed, but the process involved was a bit long. I would let people know to pop the cake back in the refrigerator before serving or traveling because the fresh whipped cream likes to slide.
04/24/2011
I made this for my boss who loves cherries and she loved it! Forget using depression estrus for making the red goo, do a wink boil with it or else your whole cherries will fall apart and plough into jam
04/01/2011
I made this cake for a altogether. I liked that it didn't use canned pie filling or a boxed block mix. The block actually has a dainty chocolaty sense of taste. The cherries at the store just come up in 14.5 oz cans so I went with that size. When I was bringing them to a boil they appeared to have a night peach/pink color merely non ruddy. And so, I added a few drops of red nutrient coloring and it worked perfect. I was worried well-nigh the whipped cream not holding up the next day on the piped part, so I made a recipe of stablized whipped cream from this site for the pipe part. I do suggest using a smaller tip for the bottom piping, then the superlative, although the recipe does not mention that. The cake may exist transported and so I used a circular cardboard to decorate the cake on, on a cake stand. I thought the final cake looked very attractive. I promise everyone enjoys it tommorrow! Thanks submitter.
05/03/2010
My husband and I dearest this recipe. The first time I fabricated this cake I used fresh cherries and made my own filling. It was out of this world. The next time I made this cake I used the canned cherries and it was even so wonderful. Although the second time I used Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate shavings on the side rather than the block crumbs. Then pretty.
03/11/2011
I made the cake exactly as information technology said in the recipe and it turned out beautifully! Chocolate block was delicious. I bought sour pitted cherries from a European food market place, and I volition NEVER buy canned cherry pie filling again! I put the 4th layer bated to dry for a bit then crumbed it in the food processor. I made the cake the 24-hour interval before with a crumb coat of whipped cream and prepare it in the fridge overnight. On serving twenty-four hour period I finished up the sides, and busy the top.
12/31/2010
Splendid recipe!! Lots of fun to make likewise!
x/02/2010
This cake did not turn out for me and had a rubbery texture. I didn't bother to proceed with the rest of the recipe after the block. will not use this i again.
01/thirty/2010
I think this is a great block. My family loved it. It was a flake dry - even though I only baked information technology 30 minutes - but the juiciness of the ruby-red filling balances out the dryness pretty well. Would like to effort making it the day before side by side time, every bit others commented that information technology'due south more moist after sitting overnight. I did sprinkle a cherry juice/kirsch/saccharide syrup on the cakes merely I guess I should have used more...
12/28/2010
My mother made this for Christmas and information technology was delicious. My female parent-in-law who is German was very impressed. She fabricated two alterations to the recipe. She brushed each layer of block with Kirsch. Also, instead of crumbling i layer, she grated semi-sweet chocolate and patted that on the sides of the cake. The result was a moist and chocolaty four-layer block. This recipe is a keeper.
01/01/2011
I enjoyed this block but found it a bit dry the outset fourth dimension I fabricated it. The next time around I used dark chocolate cocoa powder and a loving cup of sour cream...that made it a 5 star cake!!
11/03/2007
Impressive! I fabricated this cake for my hubby'due south altogether, and we shared it with friends. A hitting all around. Nice looking, yummy and festive enough for an out-of-the-ordinary birthday cake. A chip more time required than those "cake mix" recipes, but in my book information technology gets extra credit for that - I appreciate "from scratch" baking and those who nevertheless do it! Thanks Linda!
12/22/2010
DELICIOUS!! It is perfect equally is! Like any cake, it is more moist after information technology has sat covered for a day or two before it is eaten. This one of grade has to go in the fridge because of the whipped topping!
01/01/2011
Made the cake for New Years. As other's accept stated, the cake is dry out, even though only baking 30 minutes. There are other chocolate cake recipes that are better. What saved this was the real whipped cream and cherries! Bought 2 24 oz bags of frozen tart cherries and made those. Outstanding. Circumspection: if you lot whip the foam too long you will end up with butter!!! Don't repeat my mistake or yous also will end upwards buying three more than cups of whipping cream!
09/02/2009
A perfect cake!! I made this for my Dad'due south 60th Birthday. Tripled the original recipe to make a 4 layer 11 inch round cake. This was served to fifty people and there was barely a fleck left in the room. Rave reviews from all who tried it, even some people who don't usually similar fresh cream. Ane pocket-size alteration that I made was to add some lemon juice to the scarlet mix (near the juice of i lemon to a triple mix). This made the ruby-red mix a footling more than tart on the palate to cut through the sweetness of the rich chocolate cake. Will be making this i again. I also chose to make the cake 4 layers rather than crumbling ane of the layers for the side of the block. I used crumbled chocolate (Cadbury Fleck) to coat the side of the cake instead.
11/20/2002
I've made this cake at least 6 times, and each fourth dimension I make it, the yummier it tastes! Fantabulous recipe!
10/14/2007
Very good! I made the cerise filling a day ahead to requite it plenty of time to cool (so it wouldn't drip). I also reserved an extra i/2 C. of red juice and added 2 Tbl. white sugar and a splash of amaretto to a saucepan and allow information technology melt while the block was blistering; after the block had baked and cooled for about 15 minutes, I carve up the cakes and brushed the cutting sides with the cherry juice reduction. To the whipped cream, I used both vanilla and almond flavoring. Very delicious and elegant; this makes a very impressive-looking cake!
10/16/2008
I fabricated this cake for my uncles birthday b/c it's his favorite. Anybody loved information technology, but the married man and I thought that the cake was to dry out, but with the cherrys and whipping cream it was expert. Next year I will utilize a different chocolate cake recipe.
02/22/2010
More Similar a Brownish Forest block!
11/09/2011
I like black woods then more star
09/23/2012
Amazing! Tastes even better subsequently a day or two.
09/23/2007
It tasted Wonderful once information technology was prepared! I loved it!
02/17/2011
Very delicous block! I used cherries in a jar and it turned out beautifully. I would recommend this cake to anyone who likes black forest cake.
eleven/27/2011
I fabricated this cake today for my family and everyone loved information technology. Domicile fabricated is always best! I made the cakes last night, and made the blood-red glaze and whipped cream this morning. The chocolate cake alone is quite dense, but very adept! Overall, this block is quite piece of cake to make, and I would definitely make it once more!
12/12/2011
This cake was so soft and moist! The whip cream was not overly sweet and did not take away from the chocolate of the cake itself. I did have a problem with the block non staying together only I'm sure it was my fault!!!! I will definately make this again!!!!
01/xv/2012
Great cake. Large hit at the role.
01/02/2011
I beloved chocolate cake mixed with cherries and this is a great chocolate cake recipe.
02/03/2010
Delicious...I always utilise night chocolate cocoa and we used ruby pie filling. The cake is so moist and tasty. This cake stayed in the frig for 5+ days.
04/25/2011
Tasted wonderful! I've tried this twice & both times the filling oozed & the top slid off the block. I must be doing something wrong...too much filling? Looked terrible, simply tasted dandy.
02/27/2011
I 've made this cake several times and get rave reviews on information technology. Information technology is a trivial fourth dimension consuming, merely worth information technology.
04/06/2011
This was crawly! I used boxed fudge cake mix and fudge frosting (to wall in the filling, and frost the entire block). The canned cherries for the filling while tasted good, were absolutely not pretty enough for the top, so I cooked another modest batch with frozen cherries with a driblet of red coloring which looked beautiful. The whipped cream was amazing, and kirsch syrup in the layers a must. I sprinkled the whipped cream stars on superlative with chocolate sprinkles, this presented beautifully and got rave reviews =)
11/23/2003
Splendid recipe! I have made this block twice and it is wonderful! My merely mistake is that the ruby topping should be as cold as the whipping cream, otherwise it runs downwardly the sides and this is such a pretty block. Thankyou!
06/21/2010
Proficient recipe. The cake was dry though. I changed information technology up quite a bit. I used cherry pie filling instead of the sour cherries with sugar and cornstarch. I used dream whip to pipe forth the top, merely I decided to make a chocolate icing to go on the sides and between the layers. I also added ground almonds to the top instead of using the crumbs.
12/27/2005
An splendid cake that is unproblematic to make. As suggested by previous reviews, I used scarlet pie filling. I also used 1/2 cup butter instead of oil. I mixed the butter and sugar first, added the dry out ingredients and so the balance of the ingredients. The cake is very filling and some was withal left over for the adjacent day. The day old cake was better than that of the previous day because some of the moisture from the red pie filling and the whipping cream went into the cake. I'll definitely brand this block over again - anybody loved it!
04/21/2011
The beginning time I have ever made this kind of cake. My girlfriend told me this was her favorite and then I made information technology for her birthday. I used 3 cans (14 ounces each) of tart cherries-drained. It looked skillful and tasted great!~!
12/20/2005
I fabricated this for dessert for some guests this evening - information technology is really yummy and presentation is FABULOUS. I am all well-nigh shortcuts, and then I used canned cherry pie filling instead of making my filling due west/ cherries, carbohydrate & corn starch. Also, I wasn't sure most the crumb matter on the side, so I but made mine 4 layers high, frosted information technology all w/ whipped cream frosting, and decorated west/ a few leftover cherries on top. Colors are bully for Christmas. Also goes really well w/ a prissy port.
05/11/2009
BEST Block Always! I made this for my sisters baby shower. I followed the directions exactly and it came out dandy! several people take asked me to share the recipe since and then. I did use the tip about cut the cakein two with a slice of thread instead of cuttign with a knife and information technology worked out perfectly!
12/29/2010
I doubled this recipe and made information technology in a 9x13 pan for a funeral. Followed the recipe exactly and everyone raved about information technology! Excellent!
12/29/2010
I fabricated this cake for christmas Dinner . It was very good ,using all 4 layers instead of braking ane up .This makes a huge cake and so have lots of hungry cake lovers .I added a few actress touches to the cherries afterward it was cooked into the filling (ruby liquor) and brushed the cakes with a combination of cherry juice, small corporeality of saccharide and cherry liquor.
04/13/2012
This did not plow out well for me. Besides bad this was made for my daughter'south birthday at her asking. The cake was bland...merely the whipped cream tasted proficient. Another good thing was the suggestion in the reviews to make a syrup from the red juice and cherry liquor. I'll probably apply a different chocolate block recipe and follow the instructions simply for assembly. Thanks for sharing.
09/01/2009
Very succulent! I used strawberries instead of cherries, but did everything else the aforementioned and it was wonderful. Very moist and I loved the whipped cream topping!
02/eleven/2009
This is the best Black Forest block I have tried. Recipe was easy to follow. Family loves it. I wouldn't change a thing.
06/15/2009
This turned out excellently! :D My married man said not only did he like information technology, it is his most "favorite block - EVER."
10/31/2011
Amazing. No changes.
12/23/2012
I made this cake today for christmas eve dinner tomorrow and stuck information technology in the refrigerator. When I checked on it later, information technology had fallen apart, cherries and cream all over the refrigerator. Don't know what I did wrong, I even used gelatin in the whipped cream to firm information technology upwardly. The cake looks delicious in the pictures, pitiful but I won't exist trying this one once more, too much effort. I don't have the skill to make a cake this overnice.
09/21/2013
I haven't been able to find sour cherries ( in Canada) and so haven't tried this nevertheless. I am hoping that the sour cherries volition be a fresher alternative to crimson pie filling used in other recipes.
01/20/2010
I've made this recipe a few times and every time it comes out fantastically. Sour pitted cherries are hard to observe, at least I thought, so I utilise i.5 cans of Red Pie Filling (spend extra money to get a practiced quality brand as it really affects the flavor and quality of finished production!). This cake is fantastic every fourth dimension; looks impressive and everyone loves information technology! I tried taking the 2 cake layers and making a four tier (2nd time effectually) but I found information technology sort of leaned to one side (as well heavy), so attempt to stick with the three tier and using the actress slice as crumbles for the exterior, makes ALL the deviation. I also suggest making this cake at least a solar day in advance; for people who said it was too dry, putting it in the refrigerator and letting everything come up together actually makes the block moist (it also travels better!). The carmine filling seeps into the cake and its just delicious! It's also a time consuming block to make, then doing information technology in advance is easier :)
01/27/2010
This is a succulent chocolate block to begin with then with the toppings it is excellent! I was in a hurry concluding night and didn't want to become to the trouble to make a layer cake, and then but dumped the block in a 9x12 greesed and floured pan. We had no cherries, simply had some rasberries. I made the topping with them and added a little cool whip. It was still delicious. This is not to have anything abroad from the original, however, just wanted to effort the block in a 9x12 pan for speed. This cake stands on its own in any shape and with whatever topping!
06/01/2010
My family absolutely loved this cake.
06/01/2007
My friend and his daughter both compared this cake to one they bought at a german bakery and liked this one better, even with substituting i/ii splenda for the cake concoction (he'south diabetic). Corking recipe - Cheers!
eleven/15/2010
awesome recipe and easy to follow.
06/xiii/2011
The cake was a piffling dry out, simply maybe I over-baked information technology. Also, while I fabricated the block the day before, I should have made the whipped cream topping just before serving it. It cracked a trivial and turned yellow in some places.
xi/27/2007
I used to buy blackness wood cake, simply not since I tried this recipe. I do employ cherry pie filling, just otherwise followed the recipe.
ten/17/2010
This was a peachy recipe for a Black Forest cake! It had but the right amount of sugariness in the cake and the fresh cream frosting just put it into a whole other world. I took the cherry juice and drizzled it on each layer of cake pre-frosting and it was perfect. I will make this again for sure.
01/03/2010
This is my husband'southward favorite cake. He requests it for his birthday every year, and sometimes on Begetter's Day too. Information technology'south go a family unit tradition. I throw in a fiddling packet of vanilla sugar when making the whipped cream filling, but other than that, I actually don't modify a thing. At my store the cherries come in 24 oz jars, and so I just dump it all into the saucepan and rarely increase the sugar - we don't like very sweet desserts anyway. And I normally terminate up whipping up the entire quart of foam - if I take any left over I only savour it in my coffee for a few decadent days.It is a flake messy getting the crumbs upwards onto the side of the block...but it'south worth it! Oh, and don't substitute cherry pie filling for the sour cherries, information technology's not the aforementioned at all. . High german friends take told me I should poke holes in the block and pour kirsch (cherry liqueur) over the layers, but no thank you - we dear this recipe just the fashion information technology is.
07/22/2001
This was for my husband, who is used to the store bought Black Wood Cake, but he said that information technology tasted improve than any store bought cake. Thanks for sharing the recipe!! Nosotros loved it*S*
07/05/2012
It'due south amazing.....I prepared information technology and it was wonderful...
01/05/2012
I'm not a Baker, simply made this recipe because I love Schwarzwaelder Kirsch Torte, equally a kid living a Germany at the fourth dimension, my Mom fabricated information technology for me on my birthday and I absolutely loved information technology. This recipe did not disappoint. The Cake itself moist the filling fantastic. And information technology was actually even amend on the second day.
10/26/2012
This was a very good recipe, but I would recommend skipping the one/viii cup for flour and use only 2 cups if using all purpose flour. I got rave reviews when I make this recipe for cupcakes.
08/13/2010
Great cake. Remember to brand the cake a day prior. It taste and so much meliorate. Cake was succulent but I like fluffier cakes. I covered it in ganache for an extra kick.
08/08/2012
I am really not a fan of block mixes--also light and insubstantial. This block was wonderfully rich and but dense enough. The whole recipe was delicious.
12/30/2009
This was, by far, the best cake I accept ever fabricated. It may take been the best cake I have ever eaten. I fabricated this for Christmas because I wanted something very special. People couldn't go plenty and were even taking slices domicile! I made it exactly every bit the recipe reads and it was perfect.
01/02/2012
I made this cake for my birthday considering Blackness Forest Cake is my favorite and I've never fabricated ane from scratch. The recipe was easy, and the this cake was admittedly delicious!! Everyone loved it! We volition make this block again and once again!
08/06/2009
I agree with other users about the whipped cream. I refrigerated the block after I assembled it, and it did hold upward pretty well, just side by side time I volition endeavour adjustments. I couldn't become canned cherries, and then I used frozen ones and they came out perfect. As well, I used dark chocolate cocoa powder which gave the cake a nice rich flavor. It was my husband'southward altogether cake, and he has already asked that I brand information technology again!
12/06/2009
This recipe makes an Astonishing block! I made information technology for my dad's altogether a dark ahead of time and stored information technology in the fridge overnight; it held up bang-up. I followed the recipe exactly and it made a delicious, moist block with just the right amount of tart crimson flavor and sweet whipped cream frosting. Anybody raved nigh the presentation and gustatory modality. Would definitely brand this again!
08/nineteen/2008
This was so delicious and it looked bang-up also. Will definately brand this one over again!
02/14/2011
This is a fabulous block recipe. Great texture and season. I baked mine in a centre-shape pan with butter foam icing and cherries between layers. frosted the outside with night choc. icing and topped with cherries nestled in a piped heart shape on top. I will make it again for sure.
x/13/2011
This cake is time consuming simply very much worth the fourth dimension and endeavour.
08/07/2012
this review is for the chocolate cake layers only, as I did something dissimilar with the cherries and whipped foam. I thought that they turned out a petty dry - and I only broiled them for twenty minutes.
08/12/2012
Fabulous and showy - ever impresses. The starting time fourth dimension I fabricated this, I couldn't discover sour cherries and used pie filling - was very skillful. 2nd fourth dimension, I used some frozen sour cherries, and they made all of the difference. Perfect!
01/28/2010
Overall this was a very good cake. I found that cake was a picayune dry and not equally spongy as I like it. Too it wasn't as chocolaty as another recipes. It may take been because I used a dissimilar kind of baking chocolate. The Cherry topping and Frosting were delicious. It really brought everything together. I added some red food coloring to the cherries so they were a little more than flashy. I also definitely recommend waiting until the cherries are cooled until y'all put them on the cake. I put mine on when they were still a lilliputian warm and they dripped off the cake. Overall, this is a succulent block. I will make it over again but I call up I will add together some fudge or chocolate in the middle equally well.
07/08/2012
I made this block for my son's birthday. It did take a few hours to put together but everyone loved it! The cake looked beautiful. Here are my thoughts after making it: one. Start cooking the cherries commencement. They will have a good xxx-40 minutes to thicken and then you demand to absurd them. I did this in the fridge for another thirty minutes. 2. Bottom of the cake was a fleck overcooked. I baked the cakes for 36 minutes. Next fourth dimension, I will pull them out 32 minutes. 3. Whipped topping was non quite sweet enough for my sense of taste. Next fourth dimension, I will add merely a tad bit more confectioners sugar. iv. I liked the crumbled cake on the sides of the cake. Simply, adjacent time, I will use shaved chocolate with a vegetable peeler. five. Do put your cake together several hours before you need to serve it and refrigerate it. I finished with mine around 11am and served it at seven:30pm.
03/06/2007
The cake was a huge hitting, fifty-fifty though mine didn't turn out very pretty (but that's pretty typical for ME). As well -- when information technology says to let the cherries cool, information technology really means to let the cherries COMPLETELY cool. (red faced!) Stick 'em in the fridge and come back to 'em later.
07/31/2010
Fabricated it w/o electricity at our cabin in AK. Had to laugh at "with your electric mixer on high"! Used an old fashioned paw crank mixer to make the frosting. Turned out absolutely succulent and was a peachy surprise for our guest's 27th altogether. He said his mom always made him Black Wood Cake when he was growing upwardly. It was my first time baking this cake, so I had no thought what was involved when I started out. Can be done in the boonies with a picayune actress endeavor, simply I may save this recipe for the comforts of my kitchen in town. FYI, we have a propane stove and oven at the cabin. Yummm!
06/19/2012
This cake was excellent! When I read the instructions I was nervous that the layers would be messy and wouldn't look good, but I followed the advice of others and made this in advance and everything turned out beautifully. I baked the cake and cooked the cherries Friday forenoon and gear up them in the refrigerator to chill. I whipped the cream and assembled the cake Saturday morning, and so let information technology chill all day until my dinner Saturday night. Everybody loved it! I used one 16 oz bag of frozen cherries because I didn't find canned tart cherries, and i used all 4 layers of cake and put sliced almonds on the outside of the cake to decorate- I would definitely recommend this as it gave the block a prissy crisis and was very fancy looking.
05/16/2010
Very good perfect for my mothers birthday!
12/09/2011
All-time recipe!! My husband has been telling me for xv years that Blackforest is his favorite kind of cake, but I had never found one he really liked - even the fancy bakery versions disspointed him. This recipe was not necessarily hard, a bit time consuming. I made a syrup with boosted reserved crimson liquid - did not have kirch on hand- and basted the layers of cake with. The resluts were absolutely amazing - everyone loved the cake - even my hubby, the "Blackforest Connoisseur". Even better on the second twenty-four hour period - if at that place's whatever left over!
01/13/2013
This is my favorite black wood cake recipe. I accept made it multiple times. Information technology information technology a family unit favorite!
09/05/2006
This block was easy to make, only time consuming. The Cake was moist, and easy to remove from the pans, and the icing is perfect. The only thing I did differently was use canned cherry filling. The cease consequence was a beautiful and impressive cake.
02/22/2011
The cherrys are amazing! I loved them. I had to add a trivial more sugar to the whipped cream, just do to personal preference. The cake nevertheless, was terrible. I only baked it 25 minutes at 350 and it was and then dry. I usually add sour foam to any cake I broil but non this fourth dimension. Large mistake! A boxed block would have been better than this ane...and I may actually apply that in identify next fourth dimension.

Not a bad recipe. The cake is a piffling dry and I fifty-fifty took information technology out earlier than recommend. btw - where in the ingredients do you lot mention frosting ? That was a surprise to me, while making it. Yes, should have read through it but nonetheless, not listed in the ingredients.

I love this cake! I wanted to brand a special cake for my father-in-law'south 70th altogether, and didn't similar the blackness forest block recipe that I had. I found this cake and decided to try it, based on all the rave reviews it had. I was thrilled that it turned out as well as it did. It was time consuming, but well worth the extra endeavor. My in-laws were thrilled (they both love black woods block) and my mother -in-police said it was the all-time cake she'd ever tasted. I couldn't discover sour cherries, and I don't like cherry pie filling, so I decided to use fresh cherries. The filling turned out perfectly, and I plan to practice the same thing next time I make the cake. I know that I'll be getting requests for information technology time and time again. If anyone is looking for a great special occasion cake, this is definitely the one to brand.

I didn't even bother to brand the full cake with this. The layers came out of my cake pans and I tried the trimmings to see how information technology tasted and it was an unfortunately mediocre cake. No existent moistness, no succulent rich chocolate flavour, only a generic blah chocolate block.

I dear this recipe. I am not a baker at all, just when my young man'due south birthday came up i decided that I'd try this. He is from Nepal and he hasn't had a black forest cake for over four yrs. We can't become these where nosotros live either. Although information technology doesn't taste the same every bit one from Nepal, information technology was delicious!!
